RPB HX5 PAPR
The New Standard in Powered Air Purifying Respirators
The RPB® HX5® is a battery powered air purifying respirator fan unit which draws in contaminated air from the users immediate vicinity, passing it through internal filters, and supplying the filtered air to an approved RPB® loose fitting respirator head top.
- HEPA filter with a minimum efficiency of 99.97% 0.12 micron.
- Built in audible and visual safety alarms alert operators when filters need to be replaced, or the airflow is obstructed.
- Tested to IP53 for water and dust ingress while in operation.

Features
Features
- Lightweight Compact Design - With the complete system weighing just 2.55lbs, the already light HX5 strategically distributes weight through vertical mounting and contouring to the users back.
- Decontaminable - Sleek, considered lines and surfaces combined with a quick release belt mounting system ensures the decontamination process can be as simple as possible.
- Ingress Protection - With a completely sealed housing, the PX5 has been engineered to meet IP53 in full operating trim.
- Battery - Sealed inside the unit, the long-life lithium-ion battery is protected so it will not disconnect or bump off while in operation. Lasting 10+ hours, the HX5 will supply clean filtered breathing air for an entire shift.
- High Efficiency (HE) Filter - The filter media removes up to 99.97% of particulates down to 0.12 microns.
- Mount Lock System – The HX5 unit attaches to the flexi-belt (fitted with either a standard belt or FR rated belt), via our intuitive mount lock system.
- User Interface – Intuitive LED user interface indicates airflow and battery level.
- Alarming - Visual and audible alarms alert the user to low battery level, or when airflow falls below the minimum requirements due to the filter needing replacing or an obstructed air flow.
- Filter Safety - The filter door cannot mount to the unit unless a filter is fixed in place. The PX5 cannot unknowingly be operated without a filter being installed to ensure users are always breathing clean filtered air.
Specifications
- Air Flow - Greater than 7.4cfm (210 lpm)
- Battery Charging - 5 hours charge time, 300+ charge cycles for long battery life

- Water and Dust Ingress Protection rating - Tested to IP53 with filter and door in place, with the breathing tube connected.
- Operating Temperature - -4˚F to 122˚F (-20˚C to 50˚C). If unit is operated outside of this temperature range for 10 minutes battery alarm will activate.
PX5 Comparison
RPB's new HX5 PAPR provides NIOSH approved APF 1000 loose fit respiratory protection at a price point that is more than $200 less than the popular PX5 PAPR. And you're really not sacrificing many other features - a single speed fan and removal of the vibration alarm are really the only things your team will probably notice.
Here's an excerpt from RPB's HX5 & PX5 Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) Comparison sheet showing only the features that are different between the two models:
Outside of these few features, the HX5 is the same size and performs at the same level as the PX5 and boasts the same fast-charging, long-life lithium-ion battery that will provide 10+ hours of protection. It also uses the same HE filter that filters 99.97% of particulates down to 0.12 microns.
